Eventing, much like dressage did not originate as a sport of leisure but as a test of horsemanship for purposes such as warfare. Originally, the military used eventing competitions to test officers and horses for practical skill. Modern day eventing is by far the most comprehensive equestrian sport. It combines the refinement and finesse of Dressage, precision of Jumping and the stamina and agility of cross-country. World class events such as the Olympics or FEI world cup showcase incredible horse-rider combinations who effortlessly navigate hair-raising cross-country courses.
